Oh dear...I haven't read the full article, I skimmed but here's my two cents...
I am a fan of his show For Better or Worse, and casually watch House of Payne. Tyler's shows are...nothing groundbreaking honestly, mediocre at best...some good TV to pass the time...But he's not without his flaws...IMO the biggest problem with his shows is originality, plot development, and PACING.
Tyler found success in theatre and stage production, but he's limited as he uses the same approach for his movies and TV shows. The pacing in his shows is glacial as he tackles them as if they were plays. He also recycles plot points between shows. His character Angela from "Better or Worse" used a pregnancy plot that was used on his older show "House of Payne"
So yeah, he needs to improve on the pacing on his storylines. If he does that, his storylines may improve, be more original, and his character development won't be as boring as watching paint dry. His drive and self-sufficiency is admirable, but there's strength in knowing that you can't do everything on your own.
