What criteria doesn't Bran meet? Sorry, don't know a lot about the Tony's

Brandy did what alot of singers/actors do.  She picked up chicago after another actor and handed it off to someone else when she was done.  To be nominated u have to start with the production and do it throughout.  It seems like its broadway's way of making sure actors who are committed to broadway are recognized and not these fly by nighters that come in for a few weeks and then leave

She was snubbed (atleast in her opinion), it aint the end of the world. If leonardo dicaprio can stfu about the constant snubs, so can she.  I just don't understand going online and throwing a temper tantrum about this kinda shit, it's not gonna change shit

Jennifer has been doing the color purple. Clearly i mean from the start of the most recent run. There are shows like chicago, cats, and rent that have been going forever. do u really think that  only the people who did it at its inception 20 yrs ago are eligible for nomination and no one else? U have to use a bit of common sense,  boy

Im not accepting that if a show is set to run for a long time  and the original cast is not there (cause there have been a few roxies) and their PERFORMANCE warrants recognition i dont think its fair to say that because the show already started already that you cant be recognized because the ppul that started the show get first dibs

common sense is that if this rule is applicable to the original cast members
it needs to stick to that  dont try to twist and say that oh because a show is newer with cast changes its ok

so jhud would be ineligible
fanny would have  frist dibs on a nomination

and the girl that plays Cicely would be ineligible cause she REPLACED ORIGINAL CAST MEMBER FROM ITS DEBUt

Thats the only common sense i am seeing here

now if you gotta personal thing with a particular someone getting a nomination then of course twisting and bending the criteria makes sense to ya but

like did they stop mid show and get brandy to do it or did the show stint end and they got brandy for the next leg of it like i dont get it

In order to be eligible for a tony u have to have been an actress that was there at the beginning of the run. This isn't rocket science

from what i gather bran would be inelible if shes replacing someone who has already one a tony for the same role not really for simply replacing someone

i) In order to be eligible, an actor or actress must perform in the role on the production?s opening night and must perform in the minimum number of
performances to which the producer of such production must invite and make tickets available to Tony voters as required by Rule 2(a)vi).

ii) If an actor or actress is otherwise eligible but is repeating a role for which such actor or actress has won a Tony Award previously, such actor or actress shall not be eligible regardless of the category that role may have been placed in previously.

Also, Jennifer Hudson was eligible for a nomination because THE COLOR PURPLE was revived, and thus it was a "brand new" show, so to speak.

Brandy WAS NOT THERE at the beginning.  She took over for paige WHOEVER just like Rumer Willis took over for Brandy. Just because Brandy had HER opening night doesn't mean that was the start of the shows run.  Just stfu

Jennifer was eligible regardless,  i believe.  I think there was a discrepancy on whether she would be eligible as a feature artist or a lead actress. They have alot of rules about all this shit. So someone like wendy williams or nene cant swoop in and do a show for 3 weeks and scream about a nomination
