its a risk because its not a common sound. If any other girl of the industry would use this production as first single, it would be a risk. But Beyonce has the right team of producers/writers so they made it work making it a HUGE hit that became kind of iconic, since almost everyone knows more or less the dance moves. it had that big of an impact.

I still don't see how an uptempo R&B song is a risk for Beyonc?
If anything, If I Were A Boy was a risk. Not many people were here for that song when it came out. Ppl wanted to DANCE. That's why they released SL simultaneously.
