If you had it, you wouldn't wanna reveal your status so prematurely, not knowing where the relationship could go and/or not knowing if you'll ever even lay down with this person. I've seen couples where one is negative the other is positive and have unprotected sex and there's no transmission
Same with two positive people who are healthy and on meds, the risk of cross infection is low.

The person who he was with was recently diagnosed himself so his viral load had peaked at that point in time so he was super-infectious
