It all depends on who is giving you a compliment.

At work, "so handsome", "so pretty", "so nice", and "you look good", are usually the terms used. And your TONE of voice and the way you say it is very important.

Or "I love your new hair color/style", is another way of complimenting someone.

"stunning, exotic, oh wow" are terms I think that are used for people who look almost model-like, in an unique way. This is rare. Not everyone gets this privilege, honestly.

!

i honestly don't see exotic as an insult.
simply means u look like ur from somewhere else. an island or something.
ur something that is rarely seen where ur at. its a book tbfh

but of course it depends on context.

It's not. Lol.
It's a slay, honestly.

And if you look "crazy", people would fix their mouth to say "not cute" before anything.
So yeah.

I get exotic often actually. But not in a romantic or fetishizing way, more so descriptive as in hard to place.

Opposites Attract.

I've never called anyone hot or sexy and I don't call anyone handsome except ugly trans gurs.

It's unconditional, these days you know....

I feel like as an Indian, I get "cute" or "pretty eyes" more than anything.

Very few people say "sexy". I don't know if that's because, generally speaking, my community isn't viewed as being sexy the way blacks and latinos are.

I think we fall into a very specific category of fetishism, where as blacks and latinos are more widely recognized as being sexy.

I feel bad for East Asians. They gets nuthin

I think people get offended because they don't wanna identify with the tea they give.
A guy wants to probably be seen as sexy when he gives cute, for example.  So the issue with how you perceive those compliments are really internal issues; Because they're all indeed compliments.

People don't HAVE to say anything.

If you're cute you're cute. Sometimes I actually prefer the cuter guys.

They're normally less cocky, funny, and all around a sweet person.  They aren't too into themselves either
