Where his peers (Justin, Beyonce,) and in the 90's (Brandy, Aaliyah) switched it up with every album, they had a bigger new sound, new image, new choreography, new visuals,...Usher stayed stagnant and basic.
Usher hasn't done ANYTHING groundbreaking musically or visually in his career, his biggest sound was the crunk movement and that was out a whole 2 years before "Yeah" came out and died a year after, I mean if you call singing over a crunk beat instead of rapping over it innovative and the A Town stomp iconic.... I dunno what to tell ya  :dead:
In 5 years from now we'll be talking about how artists contributed to the game, what risks they took, which albums were ahead of the curve, Usher wont be in that conversation

Ray almost swayed me with all those articles, but this brought me back

I mean no one is saying he isn't successful of had one of the biggest albums of all time or he doesn't have classics
But there are artists who DON'T have a Diamond album and still made a bigger impact and influence :dead:
Sex symbol in the early 00's..yh but music Icon..no

RAY7

All of that: being a sex symbol, having classics, being hugely successful, and a huge influence on the young male artists after him, and saying he's not an Icon is hating. The ONLY thing is that he never went completely left field musically but if it's not broke don't fix it. I think the word y'all are trying to say is INNOVATIVE, not Icon

FlowerBomb

"haters!
and it def broke because he went from 10 mill to 1 to barely gold
you dont need to go completely left field, but you do need to grow
Chris showed more musical growth than Usher has his entire career

wizzy

Nah.
A beloved R&B hitmaker from back in the day, definitely
but I wouldn't say he's an Icon.

Those articles don't mean shit (most likely old as dirt)  :plzstop:

I've already said at one point every male R&B artist has looked up to Ush' while he was on top. They've all aspired to be in his shoes.
The thing is, if people are not still listing you as an influence even after you've passed your peak, that's says a lot.

No one in 2016 or recent years is still naming Usher as one of their main influences  :dead:

By this logic Brandy went from 5 Mill on NSN to 1 Mill on FM to barely Gold on Afro
does that mean her music is bad too?

:udontlookok:
apparently a lot
Jayden brought up how she "switched it up" and Usher didn't
:ATLcameo:

but now he's using numbers to say what music was good so

huh?
by YOUR logic you said he didn't need to change his sound 'if it ant broke don't fix it'?
And it clearly did break from him going diamond to a struggle platinum
Brandy took a massive musical risk from NSN to FM
What musically risk did Usher take from Confessions to Here I Stand?

BAPHOMET.

45 pages later and Usher is still being lynched  :omgwatshappening:

I think he is, even though he's had a few career misses.
