Its just that first sentence  like gorl, who are these people? I would never look at her or her hair and wonder if she's mixed/ what she's mixed with. Like.... Where  I just see nigger tbh  and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

But what's wrong with wanting know where you came from? lol

It's complex, it's a black thing Jon', let me break it down for you. lol.

For some reason in our community when someone brings up their heritage, unless they're strictly referring to Africa, people get very uptight. But on the other hand, people in our community are also quick to assume that anyone who doesn't have kinky hair is of mixed heritage. Which isn't always necessarily true because there are people who are 100 percent African in countries such as Ethiopia and Somalia who have looser curl patterns.

It just happens that I actually have a mixed heritage which is pretty close generationally on the maternal side of my family, which contributes to some attributes which aren't necessarily "African". The truth is most black men do not have hair like mine. Which is what prompts these questions from people. It intrigues them, and that's understandable.

However, I do NOT consider myself mixed. I mean the reason that my hair intrigues people is the fact that I AM black. lol and clearly of African descent.  if I had a more European appearance with my skin, etc. it probably wouldn't raise a question for anyone. That's why they question my HERITAGE.

Some people see "mixed" anything and automatically shut down and start getting angry and accusing others of self hatred. When its actually the opposite, it's embracing your WHOLE truth and everything about you which makes you who you are.

But that's what makes black people so beautiful. You have someone like me who is dark complected with softer hair, and then you have someone like Michael Ely who has green eyes, light skin and kinky hair. We're kinda well.......beautiful lolz

Well see, sis, this is the thing (and why its such a kii), this "most black men don't have hair like mine" thing you're trying to push is foolish. There's nothing special about your hair  because it doesn't give a buckwheat mess out doesn't mean its some rarity in the black community  Its just black hair. Being curly and greasy doesn't make it appear to be anything but. And I just don't buy that so many people are intrigued by it. Its clearly something you're very proud of and I guess your best trait? Thats great. But you don't have to make it out to be something its not in order to celebrate it.

What you're referencing is clearly "hair hierarchy"; you're offended with what I'm saying because you FEEL that's what I am promoting, when I am simply (again) explaining my experiences as a black man with a looser curl pattern. Take some time to educate yourself on what I'm discussing before you come at me with illogical accusations.

the kii is that I do not comb or brush my hair at all. Or even own any hair grooming utensils.
Just wet it apply conditioner and pump.

Combing or brushing my type of hair is actually a huge no no.
All it would do it s disrupt my natural definition .

Although I don't consider myself "mixed", I knew my maternal side of the family is of strong admixture....my grandmother....


my grandmother's grandmother...


There are strong genes on my mother's side....its crazy how much my sisters look like my fucking great great grandmother 

and my father's side, there are very strong genes as well but clearly more of an African dominance...
here is my paternal great grandfather. this side of my family clearly looks different.


And for me of course I take things from both sides... But my African DNA is going to reign supreme
but having this test is interesting. it explains a lot.

Your posts are funny. Considering it was my decision to not only remove myself as an admin....but to also come back strictly as a member. Which allows me to leave whenever I need to for school or to simply chop it up with my man. While you girls sit and rigorously discuss my hair and bio. Lol

I was actually going to ask this last night but didn't want to press the issue after I realized he was serious. I also think that's probably the reason he thinks his hair is different than most black men. It's not the texture, it's the style that may be confusing him because most of us don't style our hair that way or use mousse etc.

Here's the thing guys

I have what you'd call kinky curly hair.
It's African textured hair with a looser curl pattern.
You guys never really saw my hair until recently ... Within a year or so...because I always was wearing a wig or hat lol remember that.

I just started really growing my hair.
Before, an "Afro" mess out was fine and easy to do because it is as shorter
This style also accentuated the more African properties of my hair.

However my hair grows Down ... Not up like strictly kinky hair
So i couldn't Keep the style....the hair was starting to fall down and giving a shrubby ass sideshow bob tea OWT.

So I had to educate myself on how to style my hair if I planned on keeping it long.
This style simply accentuates the curlier properties of my hair.
This took work research as well as trial and error before I found a routine that worked for me

People are quick to accuse u of lying about what I experience in life because of my hair but here u two are questioning it...and asking questions of how and why... Which I don't mind because u guys know I love an opportunity to "educate"
