I was actually going to ask this last night but didn't want to press the issue after I realized he was serious. I also think that's probably the reason he thinks his hair is different than most black men. It's not the texture, it's the style that may be confusing him because most of us don't style our hair that way or use mousse etc.

Totally false. Styling products are simply meant to define what is already there. Curl patterns are not engineered. You are born with it.

I suppose one could use a texturizer which does loosen and relax kinky hair
But if u look at a black man with a perm, his hair looks limp and almost dead. If the hair is long. (They look cute on short hair though)
