Black artists almost always need to solidify some type of core urban audience first.  Then, crossover.  Rihanna is the only black superstar I can think of that dominated in Pop first and then worked on securing an Urban base later.  As long as Tinashe's label keeps marketing her as a Pop princess with stuff like "Superlove" and "Player", I doubt she will ever do anything.  Not to mention, those songs in particular are weak.  One even featured Chris Brown.  How do you cater to a demographic featuring an artist they don't even support?  Bad marketing!

And honestly, girls like Tinashe won't break until Beyonce and Rihanna become washed.  These new girls aren't doing anytihng those 2 don't cover across the industry spectrum as far as looks, sounds & performance.  That's the only reason Nicki was able to really carve out a lane amongst them -- because she offered something different as a rapper.

Tinashe is very early 2000's with the over the top choreography and generic Pop songs.  Her videos would have been like #9 or #10 on TRL. 

If I was a Manager, I wouldn't take her on as a client.
