None of them have as much selling power

But they could've saved that first class mess and that other sequel and invested in another major character

It would've given the franchise as a whole a little more acclaim

First class and that other one did absolutely nothing for the franchise but make a little money

That part is true, but the X-men have a huge fanbase period. Of they became confident in the other mutants and created a great story(their are plenty that don't involve wolverine) the movie would sell itself. Like Godvel has sold a D list comic group and made them A listers over night, because it was good.

The way they introduced Black Panther in the Avenger movie was epic, if anything after "Apocloypse" and how they introduced Storm..they should build on
her character..
