Interesting. I never understood the FULL extent of Rachel's backlash as she seems committed to uplifting the black community. In my own case, I would never identify as "transracial", but being white/Latino, growing up in the hood, and being raised by a black family from the age of 2 (in addition to my own biological family), I can say that I geuinely identify mostly with African Americans more than any other race. Black people around the way call me their "nigga" even though I never use the word, and some have even said that I'm black. Obviously not literally black, but I've faced the a lot of the same struggles and have a lot of the culture ingrained in me. Still, I don't give off that "trying to be black" vibe. I embrace all of the layers that make me who I am.
