That part about people asking "where you're from" or "are you black" is so true.
I get that all the time and when I tell them they're like "Oh yea, I could tell you weren't just -- regular black"

My big sis was JUST talking about this not too long ago.



She sees herself as "just" a black woman, but someone is always asking what she is.  I think she was getting confused with it so she finally ranted.

It's just so funny that she made this post AFTER I took my DNA test (which I didn't tell her about), and was awaiting my results. I was so happy when I could share them with her.

!!! it's so common too. Like they assume just because you look different, pretty or small features that you're not black. And for some strange reason even when I tell certain ppl they assume I'm not black and will say some lowkey racist shit towards blacks. Just last week some Asian lady at Nordstorms asked my mom and I where we were from and we told her she was like "Oh oh, not black!" and did that hand gesture when you don't want something and was like I could tell by your light skin" and laughed fjfjfj I was so shocked.

I am just glad I inspired you. I spoke to a few BLACK people at my job and they are looking into theirs as well.

Notice, I said BLACK people. No point in me going to Suzy and encouraging her to research her roots.

You should see the way their eyes light up in person. They get so happy at just the thought of finding out. It makes me so happy. For African Americans, ancestry goes so much further for us than just taking a test and getting results.

It connects us to something that we have been lowkey taught NOT to connect with : the fucking MotherLand. And yes we have other specks of other mess in us here and there from slavery. But will I waste my time research Scandanavia and mess.....to trace the roots of the coon who raped my ancestors? I'm here for my African roots. As well as my smaller Native ancestry.

I was doing research on Ethiopia and was stunned at how many tones, hairs, etc. are in that country. I would love to see you GODman i am sure u fucking SLAY. ethiopian woman are known for just doing that.
