Its a service animal. Which is protected under the ADA. People especially veterans that has extreme PTSD have to have one to control certain triggers and so forth. Even diabetics have them. Service dogs actually save lives.

I get needing it for disability purposes but if you require 24/7 companionship of an animal to get thru basic daily activities, maybe they should be in a home......or someone's padded cell.

Whatever it is. If his dog is officially there to help him with it, it's understandable. That's everyday life for him - she shouldn't have treated it as if he just was taking his poodle out for a walk and decided it would be cute to to bring it into a diner and give a Paris Hilton mess.

I think she probably initially voiced her complaints about the dog to the staff within an earshot of the other customers, and when they said they had no rules against it, she was probably very vocal about her disgust, and decided to leave.

I think after that before she could leave Mary Beth decided to add her two cents in about "keeping your opinions to yourself" and that's what triggered her.
