@ Afro I agree.

I use to love my friends names Tyniquah and Jakeem. So edgy and creative LMAO!
!!!!!!

I don't think we're taught to hate "black names".

Many of our friends and family had them.

There this was this guy down the block from me named Jahquail. I thought his name was so sexy.

If anything, I got more heat from black people for my name. A lot of heat.
My big sis was about to fight someone one day over it. :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop:

SO I cant really see this big "issue in our community" of not accepting ethnic names.

But this is just my personal experience.
DDDDDDDDD

I had a friend named Darius. Very simple name IMO but the white people at my job were like  :-o his name so black!!

After i called them crackers for having cookie cutter names, we had this discussion about names. But it's just funny how it looks completely different from the outside.
Yeah I guess Darius for us would be tame. I mean we're black, we know people with much more complex sounding names. I do see that for the most part white people keep it extremely simple. They'll go nuts over naming a bvy "Anna" or "Sue", as if its some new innovative mess.

I just think we're more creative, and it's the creativity that is misunderstood.

I mean it's no secret that if a CEO has to choose between Adam Wilson and DemQuan Johnikins he may just go with Adam :plzstop:

A disgusting truth but it's true. That being said; Raven should not have said she WOULDNT hire someone because of their name as she sits up there looking like a client on Cutting into the ATL. And then to use to the word discriminate; ugh. How dumb?

people really dont care in the corporate world....actually an ethnic name that indicates you're black could get you the interview/job.....because there are so few of us in those fields and these top companies want to diversify their workforce...these companies think its so 'edgy' for a black person to be in science/tech.......its different from field to field though

and the entertainment industry is obviously the complete opposite .....just overt ruthlessness and racism

Herb.

And it could do with our culture as well. We love to show out, be unique, be different, be seen and heard. It's part of who we are as a people. Which is why we consume so much of designer clothing, shoes, fancy cars, etc. So it's really no surprise that when our bvys are born we take that extra step of making sure they have a unique name.

I've seen the exact opposite go down on the government side.
I could see how private sectors would do those things though seeing as how they have demographic quotas to meet
