Manhattan is an arm and leg for some noise and a shitty landlord. You need to look into Brooklyn.
!!!

My coworkers live in harlem and pay crazy money - didn't have gas for months

And talk about not having hot water off and on like it's fucking normal and something you can get used to.

And the infestation in Manhattan is gross  :uhh:

There's no reason I'd should be paying nearly two grand a month and have to deal with no hot water and Stuart Little perching in my damn cabinets
bitch omg
:x

I really admire anyone that can persevere through shit like that but I just couldn?t. I don?t make money like that yet anyway, and I sure as hell wouldn?t be wasting it on rent out there if I did

The sad part is...

Unless you have subsidized housing (reduced rent, and the government pays the difference), Even in the "hood" you're wasting money on rent, cause those apartments can easily go for $1300+. In the fucking hood.

My friends pays $385, but her apartment is really worth $1450 on paper.
And she lives in the projects.

For the people in here who are students and live in an apartment, why don't y'all just live with your parents? I'm in 3rd year university rn and I live with my parents.

It just doesn't seem plausible how some of y'all are students yet are paying thousands of dollars a month for rent. I've also heard about how tuition is extremely expensive but I've always wondered how much?

Here where I live, I pay around $8,000 a year for my tuition (that's before my scholarship deducts the price). That number gets rounded up to $10,000 once you include textbooks, bus pass, etc.

The fact that some of y'alls 3-month rent is equivalent to my yearly tuition is kinda scary  :uhh:

It really is.

As a college student, you should try to stay home.
Not everyone has that luxury though.  You have to factor that in.

$8,000 can last you a year's worth of rent in Florida.
In NYC, it may last you 3-4 months tops.

Nah.

It's tuition which comes down to around $8,000.

Then it's textbooks which could be anywhere from $800-$1,000.

Then it's U-Pass (bus pass for college/university kids) which is $385 or $395.

The fact that I used to hate Jersey before but highly considering moving to Jersey City now is crazy... seen a 1 bedroom with a gym, door man, laundry on site, utilities and all for about like 1,500 or so... NY would have u at a 7 floor walk up, no elevator, laundry mat like 5 blocks away, kitchen combined with living room ass studio for like 2k smfh
chhh

Jersey it is LOL!
