She didn't say ANY ghetto names

She said Watermelon'drea :dead:

She said she would discriminate

and thats a problem
nnnnnnnnnmmmm

Fro would u hire someone with the name ?shaquannamanesha?

:omgwatshappening:
If she was able to do whatever I need to get done, hell to the fuck yeah.

I don't care if her name was shitonastickdrolaquesha the 3rd.

Why would I give the less qualified Jane the opportunity instead because her name sounds more "pleasant" or "professional"?
bbbdnsjmsnsnw

What would ya think when ya seen the name? :omgwatshappening:
My eyes would be glued to the qualifications.

And of course if there was a name like that honestly I'd know it's 99.9% chance she's Black.

And again my eyes would go right back to her QUALIFICATIONS.

The hell is someone's name gonna do for me.

Your name on a job application does matter tho. Employers actively discriminate against people based on that, based on searching their address. Is it right? No. Was Raven saying she'd be a perpetrator of this behavior? No.

She was cracking a joke, and said if ya mama named you Watermelon'drea, you can't sit with us

we all stereotype. It?s natural. Most jobs have rules in place that say how u should look and act.

Hell im pissed most jobs won?t allow me to smoke my weed in peace  :hmph:

tbh I most likely would hire them if their qualifications were good because I?m not that kind of person. My name definitely falls in the black name category so I get it.

However I would still make assumptions. And maybe suggest a name change  :omgwatshappening:

no ma'am 'ron.

If they'd like to change their name for the office or "shorten" it then that's fine
but i wouldn't proactively say, "Hey, your name is ghetto as fuck, let's change it hun".
cuz ultimately no matter how u word it, that's how they'd take it.

That's who they are, that's their name. That's the person who was qualified to do the job YOU'RE asking them to do.

Names are sacred to a lot of people. I don't know the story behind their name or who gave it to them.

We're very creative as a people and that's reflected in many things - our names being one of them. I have quite a few "Shatishanima"s and "Daquando"s in my family and I'd be heartbroken to find out that their name got in the way of an opportunity or even find that someone made them feel BAD about their name in a professional setting.

I'd want to beat their ass tbh.

That's why it disappoints me that a person of color could say they'd discriminate. We know what it feels like to be discriminated for something that's beyond our control. Why would you do that to someone else or make someone else feel that way?

Opposites Attract.

It's unconditional, these days you know....

When ppl say the rappers perpetuate this stuff I mean
this stuff is what happened/happens in their lives what else are they going to talk about? Also, none of these ppl are actually telling ppl to follow in their footsteps it?s supposed to be raising awareness of what?s going on in the Black community that needs to be changed ?Like I told you sell drugs, NO Hov did that so hopefully you won?t have to go through that?

Buy The Stars✨

But also raven didn't actually say it .. she just retweeted right

fedswatchin

T.I. is the main one that the original tweet called out, in and outta jail ass, so I see why he fumin

I mean, the "raising awareness" excuse was cute back in the mid 90's, but I'm sure most people get the point by now. The images these people promote are definitely promoted over others for a reason and it's not just to inform people outside the slums.

That said, the rappers and labels aren't entirely to blame for the mess. The consumers needs to speak up and be a bit more disciplined in what they choose to support. The music industry has always been a supply-and-demand business.

IDK, but anyway, they did that back then, now 4:44 wasn't about that stuff. TI is on his "US or Else!" Black power wave, Big Sean as others said was never even that type of rapper, no one really even pays attention to Jim Jones. Yo Gotti is like the only one still doing the traditional gangsta rap

yummy

Ray, there's a different dust mite popping up with face tats rapping about lean every other week now :hmph:

ya rock muh world.

The fact that "successful" was in quotations...

The entire post was condescending. You're no less of a White man's puppet than the men you posted. Just roll the tapes and listen to the dumb shit that comes out of your mouth if you want proof of that.
