I think hes amazing for giving our people roles

But I swear, he doesnt put much effort into his stories

I know feeding into sterotypes is easy for sales

And I mean there's truth in stereotypes. Are we not on here discussing how "angry" some Black women seem all the time? (I don't really agree with that generalization but I've definitely seen it)

I wouldn't call cheating a Black thing . Not with a movie like Fatal Attraction around. Drama sells. Just because cheating is a theme in the movie with a primarily Black cast doesn't mean that it's reinforcing a stereotype.

Also, AIDS isn't a very recurring theme in his movies and shows that I've seen. I remember one movie having the storyline of Janet contracting it from her downlow lover...and honestly maybe some women needed to see that mess. Downlow tea is a very real thing and that has definitely happened to many women but I'm sure every woman wants to believe her man could never be like that.

I've seen so many women talk about how they just pop a birth control pill and spread it wide to their man so he can raw dawg it, and I cringe. You don't REALLY know where he's been. You'd like to believe you do, but you don't. And if he's out there sticking bumpin' and grindin' with other men in the hood with no condom, there's a 50/50 chance he's been exposed to something, according to the Center of Disease Control.

Truth hurts but it's real out in those streets. I think Tyler touches on real shit.

Tyler gets what he deserves.
He gets his coins and he creates jobs for a lot of black people.

In his messaging he?s very problematic and could dramatically improve.

It?s not that I want him to step away from his type of productions ...I just wish he would step away from the church queen 1980s way of thinking when it comes to the display of gays.

Sometimes he plays too much on the (dated) stereotypes that sets any progress made back 20-30 years.

I get that he?s drawing experience from the era that he and his core audience grew up in, but instead of falling into the predicatable...he could use it to get a different message across.

yea you can tell she comes from the stage and hadn't figured out how to mold the two to make it work all the way. i still really enjoyed her though

speaking of great acting, i wish Kimberly Elise would get on the small screen like some of these other great black actresses and get her own show. She deserves a "this is us" type of success
