Not for his content, but he has accomplished a lot as a black man, while staying true to his audience

and he continues to employ black actors so that's great.

I do probably give Tyler Perry a harder time than I should. Mostly because I just relate to his stuff on a surface level due to me being familiar with black culture. None of his stuff really hits home for me on a personal level.

It just annoys me that he's been the leading black person employing folks and his stories aren't something I'd gravitate too, but I can't hate.

I'm a Superhero, Action, Fantasy, Sci Fi kinda gal with some EDGY comedy and drama here and there. If I'm being real Boo Halloween is the first time I've been interested in a Tyler Perry mess mostly because even if it's terrible it's content is something I use.

I think hes amazing for giving our people roles

But I swear, he doesnt put much effort into his stories

I know feeding into sterotypes is easy for sales

But fuck, think outside the box sometimes

the MAJORITY of his mess is AIDS, CHEATING, and ANGRY black women
But he tried thinking outside the box

And I didn't use tbh. The serious mess isn't for him.

And I mean there's truth in stereotypes. Are we not on here discussing how "angry" some Black women seem all the time? (I don't really agree with that generalization but I've definitely seen it)

I wouldn't call cheating a Black thing . Not with a movie like Fatal Attraction around. Drama sells. Just because cheating is a theme in the movie with a primarily Black cast doesn't mean that it's reinforcing a stereotype.

Also, AIDS isn't a very recurring theme in his movies and shows that I've seen. I remember one movie having the storyline of Janet contracting it from her downlow lover...and honestly maybe some women needed to see that mess. Downlow tea is a very real thing and that has definitely happened to many women but I'm sure every woman wants to believe her man could never be like that.

I've seen so many women talk about how they just pop a birth control pill and spread it wide to their man so he can raw dawg it, and I cringe. You don't REALLY know where he's been. You'd like to believe you do, but you don't. And if he's out there sticking bumpin' and grindin' with other men in the hood with no condom, there's a 50/50 chance he's been exposed to something, according to the Center of Disease Control.

Truth hurts but it's real out in those streets. I think Tyler touches on real shit.
SDDDDDDDDDDDdd

no not ALL of his movies invovle aids, but its been implied in a bunch of them  :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop:

"be careful..."

Like, I know what black people are referring to with sex  :dead: :dead:

he wants us to believe this is a real BLACK mess and i know exactly wtf theyre talking about

But, I agree, he does hit real topics

But his movies are ALL the same. That Alex mess was one time he ventured left

My point is, maybe he should write with others and all his mess wouldnt feels so samey

Tell me you cant predict a tyler movie after watching for 30 mins :dead: :dead:

I get what you mean, but i think it's smart of him to stay in his lane.

Being in the superhero, action, fantasy, sci-fi genre is very expensive when it comes to production. You need graphics, dramatics, etc. if you really want it done RIGHT. It's just not realistic unless you have some serious backing. I mean MAJOR backing.

And I think people forget that Tyler Perry started off doing plays and eventually transitioned into movies . He's the PERFECT example of staying true to who you are and not losing sight of your audience. We always complain about people not doing that - here we have someone that truly embodies that and we're like "YAWN! I want Sci Fi hun  "

Oh I'm not one of those girls

Fuck the audience.

Sell out King, just sell out and keep employing black people.
