she definitely has her pop fluff moments and obnoxious phrases

But she is a talented writer who can turn a phrase like I've never heard no bitch do. There are Onika songs that I don't even like that I will listen to because there are bars on there.

She's had her gimmicks but one of them has always been the unique quality of her word play. Unfortunately, that talent isn't as respected as it used to be because Hip Hop has been watered down to appeal to all of the many non blacks that live for it. You don't have to be a lyricist or an MC to survive in today's rap world and that's what's kinda disgusting about Cardi's rise.
