Part of me cannot bring myself to understand what seems to be a clear case of colorism that Lee Daniel has.

Every dark skinned person is a criminal, ghetto assistant, and now they're just skipping to dessert in the recent episode by straight up calling us "ugly".

I addressed this a couple weeks ago, and this recent episode just brought it back to mind.

But part of me is asking.....is he really the person who suffers from colorism, or is he simply portraying the TRUTH of what goes on in our community? Many of us dark skinned black people are referred to as soot, ugly, burnt...look at what Azaeila Banks goes through on a regular basis...nearly every insult hurled at her is in regard to her skin complexion, or that she's "ugly". When she clearly isn't.

So are we getting in Lee's ass for good reason or are we just upset that he's putting the TRUTH out there?

Fantasia Loaf didn't really strike me as the "dark skin" rapper... If anything she is a "dyke" rapper. Maybe that is why she got called ugly, cause she is butchy.

I was disgusted. It's becoming a trend in this show.

But I had to think, maybe it sucks when someone puts up a mirror to the community sometimes. This is actually real mess. Which is why we can kind of pinpoint the root of a lot of these "random insults", as well as the casting.

There is a fine line between depicting something just to do it, or criticize it.  The context is key.

I don't watch Empire but based on yalls critique earlier, I think he is colorist.

None of them are flat out called UGLY though

this isn't really about the hardships and struggles of each character or their personality traits. Thats usually what Tyler perry gets lashed for (Light skin man saving the damsel in distress from dark evil man) but Lee's thing is a bit different.

Does the Loaf really give DARK skinned though. Gaboury, Malcolm, Naomi, DMX turned Lecrae give me dark skin.

As far as the rapper, her gimmick is being a butch with no manners or style.
