The whole skin tone thing is subjective.

I'm looking at pics of her dad and he does have a darker skin tone.

It's just a reddish color/undertone as opposed to more Brownish so people may not see him as "dark skinned".
I can see how she'd classify him as dark though. He's darker than her in hue.

But I will say when I think of "dark skinned man" - someone who looks like him does not come to mind. That's just me, though. Again, it's a highly subjective mess.

I understand and I think this is my overall viewpoint when discussing skin color --especially regarding subjectivity-- there are actual living breathing dark skinned people that can be used as a point of reference. How has her perception (or anyones) been informed without taking that into context before making these kind of comments?

It reminds me of when white feminist say shit like "women are the niggers of the world" then what are the actual ppl who are called niggers then?

Saying her dad is Dark skinned just doesn't land taking all things into consideration. I'd rather her just come out and say she felt pressured or wanted to be relatable.
