Whit had Im Your Baby in like 1990, then went to The Bodyguard, Waiting to Exhale,Preacher's Wife
nothing was Mary-ish until like maybe Heartbreak Hotel?
and Toni had her own Babyface/ Anita inspired sound

They were all just pop girls who never tried anything urban until after Mary. I'm not hating on any of those ladies because I adore them all, but it's the truth.

Not Mary being the reason girls evolved and tried sumn new. GHETTO ass Whitney was just being who tf she was and Toni never fully went into any Mary lane. This is bullshit. Furthermore both of those girls give and continued to give what Mary NEVER could.  An actual classic vocal.  Mary guttersnipe ass getting dogwalked in this bitch tonight
