I'm now wondering if this were the original tea that the creators wanted to give and Disney execs made them scrap it in favor of a melanin free  Ariel.
I doubt it.

I think Disney is shooting their shot in this whole "melanin poppin"/Black girl magic era.
They see there's money to be made and are going for it.

It's to be expected so I'm not clapping for Disney
But I'm so so happy for those little Black girls who will see this.

Yes you can be a princess too. Yes you can be feminine and beautiful.
Or it could just be that Halle embodied the character more than any of the other girls that auditioned

I'm sure it's a combination of a lot of things

Plus, companies are benefiting from 'trying new things'

And Disney has like.... Unlimited money to hire the best analyst  :dead:

It is very on trend, but we still waitin for original black folklore so until that happens, this kinda stuff is still just "cute" for now

Plenty of those out there, folks just don't want to embrace it because it's too "ethnic"

Contrarian?

So you think Disney did this from the kindness of their hearts and because they love Black folks?
No I think Disney did this because they thought this gorl embodied the role, simple as pie.

I dunno when we'll get original films, I don't even see b-movies being made  :dead:

BigDawg

So was it a "trend" when they hired other black actresses to portray other fictional characters that were typically white?

Then just have your opinion
It's not really an "opinion" when the exec fag said from his own mouth gave his reasoning as to why this girl was chosen and then you wanted to be combat that by asking for extensiveness research details?
stop muddying the damn celebratory water
