I know some might disagree but I never really saw Mariah as R&B.. She just don't have that grit and authenticity of soul.

That's because Mariah was never R&B. She was a Pop artist who desperately wanted to be liked and  respected in the Hip Hop & R&B lane....she envied Mary for the acceptance that she had amongst her peers.
