QuoteOn Thursday, the review embargo for Disney's live-action (or photorealistic, if we're being honest) remake of the 1994 animated classic The Lion King finally lifted, and it's safe to say the critics are...busy.

Reviews for the new Lion King are mixed, with critiques ranging from celebratory to downright scathing takedowns. (The film officially opens July 19.)

As of right now, the film stands at a very meh 57% on Rotten Tomatoes, a website that aggregates film reviews. Another website, Metacritic, has it at a score of 55, describing the reviews as "mixed or average."

After Aladdin and this, Disney may wanna take a break on these live action remakes a bit.

I can't recall seeing one I actually liked and wanted to see again.

I absolutely loved Aladdin and it's Metacritic score only a 53. So I'm not worried.  Folks always wanna pan something that's a remake, especially when it's something from their childhood. Of COURSE it's not gonna have the same magic for YOU as it did when you were a kid, but a kid TODAY is gonna see that new movie and feel the same connection to it that you once had, for the original.

Aladin is a week away from crossing a billion dollars worldwide

And the lion king will easily surpass it.

Y'all just type anything around these parts.  :uhh:

So that means it was good? People have different taste. For me, Aladdin was SHIT while others thoroughly enjoyed it.

So that means it was good?

It means its making money faggot. Which means disney ain't suffering any kind of loss due to critics feeling they oversaturate the market and dim the lights on other smaller releases.

Aladin also has a HIGH audience score. So clearly ppl like it.

Stfu sometimes.

Fuck you BITCH. I never said Disney was suffering. The only point I'm making is that making a lot of money at the box office doesn't mean a movie was good. Look at Endgame, Infinity War and Captain Marvel. They all made a shitload of money but they were all SHITTY movies. WELP.

damn

You must be old as fuck

I really think the negative reviews, same as Aladdin, are only because people only want to compare to the original but they're completely different movies.
