I have traveled all around Europe and I'm in Asia now and loving it. My life isn't in any immediate danger. I work at a desk 5 days a week. I make pretty good money. I've finished two degrees since I've joined 6 years ago and the military paid for it all, and they'll be paying for my third degree when my contract ends in June. They pay for my food, they pay for my rent, health insurance, and I get 30 paid vacation days a year. Going to Japan next month to climb Mt. Fuji, and going to Bali for my birthday in September, and the check still comes.
But fuck that man "in charge."
A lot of people make a career out of it because of all the benefits, including being able to retire as early as 38 and getting that check for the rest of your life but for me it's a nice stepping stone to greater things.
