I actually saw her on broadway for celie
And you're off base :dead:

her voice is perfect for Celie,.
she literally belted and gave u pretty all throughout every song

she gave the pain that it needed
!!!! She was ACTING

Should she be sweating and having snot come outta her nose in order to be believable  :dead:

This sorta reminds me of how when the girls use to claim Monica could out sing brandy just because she was more showy and held notes

Uh..  :plzstop:
Brandy has always been superior.. years later the girls found out she could do the same yelling.. just with actual technique

Look at the material
Every singer isn't just a bowl of yelling

This is why jennifer catches it from me.. she's just a yelling girl.. if she mastered her craft and humbled herself she'd be dynamic.. that tone is still questionable tho

!!!!! sddd "POWER!"

It's typically people that praise the local singer at church, for hollering and jumping around like Mary J  :dead:  I can appreciate that style too, but it doesn't make them better or more emotive than the singer that's giving you a CLEAN technical vocal on top of all that

Yes, Monica could only dream of having Brandy's ear for music. But, Brandy could use a bit of Monica's confidence, Monica is very confident in her voice, rather it sounds good or not.

I have always said, as vocalists they are actually both missing the one thing the other has. Brandy has never challenged herself in a live performance, this is why many question her being the "vocal bible".  98.5% of every Brandy performance is extremely safe, and for me thats why I dont consider her one of the all time greats.

GLOCK

As a monica Stan..
shes literally confident for no reason.
i can't respect a girl that just sings and then whatever comes out .. she's ok with

brandy may lip her performances lately  but most of her career she has giving amazing live performances.. and I don't think she can learn or pull anything from Monica

brandy is definitely an all time great for me and to a lot of other people
she may not be the most confident live singer but that's the perfectionist in her.. she can clearly do it

her styling, approach, vocal versatility, tone and range makes her one of the greats :omf:

it's just apparent you like a yell owt..
and I'm not here for it.. this isn't church.

GLOCK

Also people question her being the vocal bible because they have a lazy idea of her and obviously hasn't taken the time to listen to her full discography..

it's like someone calling Aretha a YELLER.. eh.. a lot of her bigger hits might be that but to fully know her and her work you'd know that less than a fourth of her music is that and that she's a very intelligent singer .. she rarely  yells or goes for power

but listeners are lazy.. does brandy singles usually give "vocal bible"? No.. but if they did she'd never been as successful as she is..

see Deborah Cox.. always giving a vocal but no one likes her music or even really acknowledges her

She's mastered what many of the "all time greats" haven't done in the studio as well, though. It goes both ways

Some of ur favorite singers can only dream of doing what she and Beyoncè do in the studio

Bran is a singers singer in that studio as well. Nothing to scoff at whatsoever

But everyone has different criteria. Her PEERS consider her the Bible and that's where the nickname started

The general public can think what they'd like

b7

People like Keke Wyatt are a great example. Doing any and everything possible in terms of tricks on stage, but typically doesn't deliver a complete, emotive song in the studio.

There's no one really in that studio to hype you up. You have to dig deep within yourself to interpret songs the way Brandy does in that studio. She literally has songs where it sounds like she's crying or broken

that's a fuckin my GIFT
