I can understand why she wouldn't add Human songs to her set list. It's a complete deviation from traditional Brandy, which was kinda the issue in the first place

Idk who to blame for the direction of that album.
It wasn't the direction that was her problem, it was her lack of dedication  .

Ehhh it was too pop. Although her voice was phenomenal, it didn't feel like a Brandy album at all. I think she could have had some pop success with a different second single, but the album overall wasn't the right path. I mean, from Afrodisiac to Human??? She know damn well :dead:

i guess Human didn't bother me because i found out about the Afro and Human album in the same year. Never knew she released Afro. Full Moon was the last album i knew about until 2008. So i guess me knowing all the stuff Brandy had gone through, and with my own life problems, i had no problem with Human. It fit what i was going through in life.

It was too pop, I agree. However, Right Here performed better than TAOL or Who Is She 2 U. Afro wasnt a successful era like that either. A big part of the reason Human didnt perform so much was because Brandy was just gone for too long. Between that time, so many other artists kinda came in and took her spot as one of the leading R&B chicks. Long Distance was just a weak follow up single. But I dont think there was a single song on Human that coulda been a hit. At least w/ Two Eleven, we knew DYK or Slower woulda done some damage. The pop songs on Human were good, but just not strong enough to compete with the Beyonce's, Rihanna's, or even the damn Keyshia Cole's at the time.

This makes sense. I got into Brandy in 2004. Then I went and discovered her older stuff. Then when Human came out...I tried to stan but I still kept her old albums in rotation lol
I will say that I think Human is her strongest album vocally.

!!!! I know they wanted to come back acknowledging '06
but the album was too somber at a time when everyone was doing
the alter ego high energy pop
Her vocals were top notch but those singles weren't what non-vocalists wanted

Agreed. Even though Afro wasn't that successful, it was still a creatively dope album. I didn't feel that with Human.
Oh well...here we are 12 years later. I'm ready for the album we been waiting for since Afro lol

We're ready Brandy!!!

Harlem

TBH Long Distance was just a bad follow up... she should've did a super cool campaign around Camouflage or picked up the pace a bit with The Definition or 1st and Love

Bitch! Even Warm It Up would've been a better 2nd single

so glad HUMAN is getting love. My favorite era of vocals

wooooooo

Ackkkkkkk

That era is so underrated vocally
i know a lot of the Gospel girls love that one too

Darrell from the walls group always says it's some of his fave mess
Rigs, that sick run she did in "Warm It Up"! "ooooOOOOOooooooh aaaaaaAAAAAAaaaaAAAAAhhhhhhh....."

Torn Down was it for me  :stressed:
I still kinda HATE them for not releasing Fall.
That was the best follow up to RHD if they were going the ballad route.

Barbie Dangerous

RHD (with Long Distance's visual), The Definition, Warm It Up, Camouflage/Torn Down

Those were the singles.
