I think Background did this because of Pony. I remember everybody in the hood had that green and black pony cd single and didn't care for the album.

Boy how old are you wtf

Pony came out in '96 and in order to remember this you'd have to of been 10 or so  :disgusted: at the LEAST

I was 10 in 96 so what are you trying to say
Eh... 🤷🏾‍♂️

I think alot of people forget Aaloyah was on Jive Records also.  :dead: :dead:

That was alot of there doing, that's how they shifted more albums. They did the same with Britney which is why her  earlier singles didn't "perform" well on the charts. N'sync etc...

When they allowed airplay only singles to chart that's how Try Again did what it did.

Yeah I don't understand why they would play with Oops single like that. I was surprised when I saw it peaked at #9..like wtf

Eh...

What are you talking about? Britney 1st single went #1 and other singles charted pretty high as well

No they didn't your talking about the single they launched her.  :dead: yeah that one was sold. They held the releases on alot of other ones which is why they charted low in comparison to maybe like the radio peak etc...

CREAM.

Britney's earlier singles did not really perform well

FAMÈ

Weird...

Seemed like this was #1 for weeks. But then again I don't really remember.

It worked for Britney. I'd rather people buy my entire album verse my songs too.

It's crazy how this didn't perform well but is a huge r&b staple
So unforgettable and timeless

Changed r&b forever

Yeah that's why Jan's "Got Til It's Gone" or "Go Deep" didnt  chart
It was a big hit. Just never sold and released for a single. They wanted people to buy the album so it didn't chart because at the time billboard only allowed songs that were released as singles to chart on Hot 100.

These are the things that don't get annotated in history and doesn't translate over time.
They tried her  :uhh:

That's a dumb ass rule
So glad they did away with that mess

best selling female rapper of all time

Yup. That was on of the singles they didn't release a physical to. Only issued as radio single.

WaIt...OIAM was #2 on Rhythmic. Yeah it was definitely suppose to be a top 5 hot 100.
