Bey turned this era out. Releasing a pure R&B album in the middle of the EDM craze while R&B was at its least successful point ever... that was a brave move. And she got a few career staples out of it

"Run the World" kinda fit the pop craze at that time though. It's the fact that she kept pushing it even after it not doing well that it made it so bold to me  she didn't give af if we liked it or not and still doesn't 

idk that it was "Brave" cuz she was still BEYONCÉ at the end of the day, but I'm certainly glad she didn't give us another album of pop fluff.  I really appreciate most of the 4 album now 


To ME, the Surprise drop was the one of most brave things I've ever seen, cuz no one really knew how tf that would go.
