IMO...You're either light, or you're dark.

I don't see anything wrong with dark skin. It's beautiful. I love an even toned dark body..it's a bit mesmerizing. But if someone just flat out said I was dark skinned..I would correct them I'm sor. I'm not.

It's just simply misrepresentation.

I think everyone has a different perception of skin tones
I remember when I called Brandy darkskinned and several members took offence
One member said in some places in the south she'd be considered light :dead:

I agree with the original post, to an extent.  Most black people are dark-skinned, yet don't want to be considered such.

But we come in too many complexions to not be more descriptive than light or dark.  To whites, we're pretty much all dark.  Amongst ourselves, there are a ton of variations.

Let's say you're describing an unfamiliar black person.  Saying light or dark doesn't give enough description, so I can understand it on that basis.
I can agree.

I think it's due to the negative connotations with the words "Dark skinned"
even when we see someone who is clearly dark skinned, because we see them as real pretty, we'll separate them from the term, and assign them "brown" or "mocha" or ANYTHING besides "dark". :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop:

I call this medium brown, golden even  :ohwow:

When I think of dark skinned, I think Lupita, Foxy, Naomi etc
