Looking back at Human today I think it's some of her best vocals. But I think when she started smoking weed it changed her voice (but that happens when you smoke). She has vocals today but they sound more raw as opposed to sounding pure.

Yes Plan B is the most recent song that I've heard Brandy with a pure tone

Yeah I think that's the point. Plan B and that song she did w/ Angel were recorded more recently. A lot of the B7 songs were recorded several years ago when she was smoking up and sounding a bit rougher it seems. She even said in that recent interview that she wanted the vocal on Bye Bipolar to reflect the state she was in when she was feeling that way. So grittier, I guess.

She's always had range, she's just more comfortable letting herself go vocally now

Brandy is older. Her voice isn't gonna be exactly the same as 12 years ago. 

Bey, Alicia, & other girls aren't singing as high as they used to either.

Yeah I noticed when she started smoking her breath control dropped immediately
she runs out of breath alot easier these days
Also why almost none of her songs are full lines of lyrics
its all mini vocal comps (which sets her up for failure live most times)
and now we have more raw sounding vocals
smoking definitely contributes to that
but if shes not doing it alot its not going to affect the voice to much
unless she was lightin up everyday for those 8 years
shes just been lazy

she clearly cannot pull off the that innocent tone you hear on
first & love

She feels BABY TALK will achieve it
that speaks to a more grittier vocal iteself
