Whatever the sound is, it's her 3rf or 4th best mess  for me
!!!!! I love it

Le Champ

I don't have an issue with the way her vocals are mixed on most songs, it's the instrumentation that sounds MUDDY imo
like the beginning of No Tomorrow makes me so angry cuz it's so epic :dead:

Yeah that's what I meant. The production. Her vocals are fine. The beginning of No Tomorrow sounds grainy and LQ af.

D.I.E.G.O.

Experimental R&B

Or

Alternative R&B

Yea I don't use.
I don't think it was a Camper thing either, cuz that ain't even his song lol
It's whoever mixed it. But Bran was a part of the mixing process too so there's no excuse.
Thankfully, the mixing issues don't take that much away from the songs for me

It's alternative soul, for me.

Very alternative and experimental. Can't box it into just R&B that's for sure

It's inspirational too. She comes out on the other side by the end of the album. Through all of the dark topics she covered.

Incredible Album for me

:dead: we know King

Alternative soul is another good descriptor too though.

I'm curious, since I know you have a discerning ear, what do you think of the production? You notice the mixing issues or nah? You think it's comparable to her past work?
yes and i love the way the album is mixed :dead:

Brandy's ear is exceptional lmao if you don't think this album is mixed precisely how she wants it to be mixed than you'd be wrong IMO.

It may not be someone's preference, but it's all intentional. There's a difference.  There ain't no issue at all IMO

By the way, it was Co-engineered by a guy that literally works with EVERYONE. He would never put his name on some bullshit

Mixed like Half of the current Hot 100 songs and then some:

I read this review yesterday and it gave the perception that  the sound could've been intentional which isn't too far fetched of a concept
QuoteThe whole set has a slightly coarse-grained quality that heightens the tension expressed in the lyrics, much of which works out grave personal and interpersonal crises

https://www.allmusic.com/album/b7-mw0003393027
And all music isn't some rinky  dink mess. Maybe they didn't want some SUPREMELY polished sound. I think that's more likely than  girl that's been in the business going on 30 yrs just saying FCK IT and throwing out any ol mess
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

Rig I think you got your stan goggles on bc it doesn't sound well mixed  :dead:

That may have been intentional for some reason but then my question is why make it sound shitty on purpose?

Make it make sense Jesus I need answers!!!!!!

And they gave the album 4.5/5 btw.  I don't think the album sounds shitty at all.  If u do,  then it's not the album for u and just wait on the next :dead:

I guess I'm wondering too why Baby Mama and Love Again sound professionally mixed compared to the rest of the album. I can see if that was the theme but it throws off the aesthetic when two of the songs sound higher quality than the rest.

Atmospheric rnb.  Atleast the first half of the album.  It sort of sounded she was suspended in air and floating.
Now the second half of the album has a totally different feel to it.  It was more of a contemporary-ish style.

Ooh I like that description, Atmospheric R&B. It does describe the first 8 songs really well. Abstract R&B too. I was thinking that it's also kind of intentionally LoFi sounding (or at least that's what I tell myself so I don't kill Pamper). That would contribute to that atmospheric feel for sure.

like she said in dc she just know what she wants and she relies on others to execute
well it fucking shows

there are glitches everywhere on the album im not hearing no silly ass bullshit that she sat up there and approved everylast mistake and said it sounds good

Y'all know Rig will squeeze an Elephant through a cheerio if he could. I get some things were intentional but there are mixing issues...I think that's why I dnt use No Tomorrow 100% b/c it sounds grainy asf...esp those ad libs on the 2nd chorus when this is the one song that should sound crisp. Just b/c someone is a popular or good engineer doesn't mean they are the best for Bran b/c she has such a particular voice and layers that can go in any direction.

I think some of you are referring to the mastering and not the mixing. All I've noticed is that scratch in the beginning of Rather Be and the beginning of No Tomorrow.
