Like. Aaliyah had a very pretty voice and sang well but it stops there. Like I said, Brandy was a piss poor comparison.

Aaliyah was a good singer
nothing amazing but good. Beautiful tone, especially her head voice. wide range from low to high
and decent amount of power when she belted. I dont think she "held back" she just paced herself
its not good to compare with Bran because she was always exceptional vocally. Even during NSN when her voice got thin and hoarse a lot
she was still a smart enough musician and vocalist to sing around those issues and sound pleasant

she was EXTREMELY nervous @ 19 as a young black girl performing for the Oscars

but what she did from 1:40 forward was AMAZING. The power and clarity of her belts.
