Literally I don't think anyone is telling her "no". I feel like everyone around her is just feeding into her "I love broadway" mindset and that's why we are getting all these unecessary theatrics. Someone should be able to tell her "save that for broadway, let's tone it down a bit and focus on the MUSIC".
Boarderline - Her with a mic, a guitarist, a drum, 2 background singers and That's it. Very unplugged like. Too many punches from the band on this live performance. Let the song be a groove. It's a great follow-up to say something but bring it down a bit. Some snaps and a nice guitar would be lovely. Add some intricate layering to the end sort of like the end of "Should I Go" that she can adlib over to, again, showcase the VOICE and then end it.
Say Something - less adlibs. Let the chorus ride out, it's the BEST part of the song. I like the idea of the mic with the two background dancers. That works! The "Wildest Dreams"-esque choreo isn't bad but let's not carried away.
And again, these fucking pre-recorded vocals are horrible. They take away her TONE which is what she's known for. The only song where her tone came through a bit was SUIMR and even that wasn't her best vocal.
Like Frank has to go if he can't see her strong points and let those shine through vs. using her as his female alter ego to push his own performance dreams in front of the world. Bran isn't you and you are not Bran and you need to be able to tell her that the Broadway antics don't belong everywhere. Like this Harry Potter opening to Say Something isn't cute. There's nothing else going on to drive that theme.
