it's not even about being an ally, it's just about common sense
most of here have fathers, uncles, grandparents, brothers, cousins who are straight black men, their treatment doesn't differ from ours in the wider context
You don't need to join a Hotep members club to see that tbh
!!!!! especially when it comes to objectification or living up to a particular stereotype.
Minorities are almost never allowed to just BE like the majority (whites) are. That's something we can all relate to regardless of our sexuality or anything else.

and i didn't intend for this to be a "lets drag hetero black men yall lolz" thread
i don't want it to be taken that way.  like not my mission at all.

i approached the man i mentioned in the OP with LOVE. very gently and took my time to educate him
because i know he himself is a bit of a victim as well if he's using that language. he's not the devil automatically.

this is more of a "when u see a black woman explaining her plight....listen to her. shit is REAL out here." thread

not just for us as members here , but any guests reading. it needs to be known that black women are not delusional and are not pulling shit out of their ass for pity points
and this is a valid point.
but when it started to veer into 'black men benefit from objectification' is when i started to side-eye a bit.

i never said they benefit from "objectification" specifically.

maybe that's where it got a lil mixed up

my point was that the promotion of the dark skinned, ambiguously Black man in movies, shows etc. often is POSITIVE for their image in terms of desirability.

u can promote a black dark skinned black man with objectifying him.
he doesn't need to have his shirt off, grabbing his dick or any of that.

in other words, think of the phrase, "tall dark and handsome."
this phrase is often used when women describe somepne who  they want to date and marry.
not someone who they're lookin to unleash their jungle fever on real quick and be done with them .

it's not always a fetish. it's positive promotion as well.

I mean either way it's still objectification  :dead:

there's levels and different types of "objectification".

someone saying "he's such a beautiful dark skinned man. love it" is NOT the same as " oooooh that mandingo ....bet he could fuck me all night lolz i got dat jungle fever yall"

like c'mon. is there really a need to break this down?

and i use quotes on "objectification " because saying someone is a beautiful dark skinned person is not objectifying them.

but if that's the definition yall wanna use for it all, i'll roll with it and try to separate it into types instead.

which should be obvious. but mess

yall were touching on FETISHization in here tbh.

if we wanna give it a straightforward definition
as it speaks more specifically to things such as skin color etc.

u can def objectify someone without fetishizing them. but yall are kinda putting them together as one IMO

of course not. it's just another physical attribute.
the issue is when people start to attach expectations with said physical attributes.

yummy

this is an honest question.

when did yall become hetero black male allies?

lsfdddsdsfdsds

i def remember the gorls saying black hetero men are trash and that kinda being the end of the discussion
no ifs, ands or buts , empathy or understanding about it
(although i didn't agree but eventually gave up)

i actually kinda go up and up for black hetero males and understand their plight as well

but i understand who needs the most protection right now. this thread was for them.

and i'll still stand up for the hetero black men when time comes.

well, according to goog' objectification is defined as:
Quotethe action of degrading someone to the status of a mere object.

fetishization is doing the same thing, just sexually.
