So I'm sure there's financial stability in that Happiness option.
They can NOT be intertwined for this discussion. Pick one and defend your answer.

I don't have to be filthy rich. Just comfortable. Able to pay my bills..travel..vacation etc.

ANd Malc I totally agree. When one is happy, where is the need for anything else? They will be happy regardless. Those who are immensely satisfied and content in their being will feel no need for outside gratification.
Excellent point
But seriously anybody who chooses money over happiness must be stupid. The only value money can provide is happiness, and if that is not given, then what good is the coin?

I feel that if you're happy and positive that you will attract money regardless.
Greed and unhappiness will just lead to no money at all then what? so yea, happiness >>>>
Most rich people aren't even happy anyway. It's like what have all that money and material possessions when you're not happy with your life and self? makes no sense to me.

Absolutely; if he's making me happy then there's something he's doing very right, regardless of his economical standing
why remove something from my life which makes me happy? I'm doing myself an injustice, since there's no guarantee of its replacement.

taking care of someone is a totally different story. if i'm happy, this means I am not endlessly irritated by him. and what would irritate me is a broke, jobless nigger who wants to do nothing but MOOCH off of someone. I know for a fact that this would make me unhappy. Otherwise, if he's a man who happens to be in a bad situation, but is working out of it on his own for the most part, and makes me happy, I'm down.

in THIS quote, someone who can't afford to do anything but pay their own bills (if that)
in the previous one, someone who literally living with no money
"Broke" to me is anyone on their own making less than 30K a year.
By the time they pay rent (irrespective of state and city), utilities and buy their food .. unless they're unusually frugal (which most younger people aren't)....they're "broke"; they will most likely be unable to travel much or buy much.
But it could be different for someone else
And regardless of their finances, if I'm happy....I'm happy.
i can't put a salary amount on it, because the cost of living is such a varied thing
one of my friends makes 70k a year and hes broke cause hes taking care of 50 people
fcking dummy

i;d rather be broke and HAPPY than filthy rich and miserable
but i dont think a homeless person can be happy so ..

30k won't go far anywhere in the states IMO. And I used salary because I didn't want to list occupations. But it's all a case by case basis, to some extent.
But you asked me if I'd date someone who was "broke". I am a person who loves to travel, buy myself nice things here and there......if I am being terribly candid, I'd have to say that it would be obvious to me if a person I'm dating isn't financially capable of doing the same. However, this all goes back to the subjectivity of the term you used -- "broke". In the back of my mind, I may see them as broke. Does this give me the right to dismiss them? Did I always have the means to travel and do what I want? Was I born into financial comfort myself? Hell no. I worked for it, and maybe they're still on the path to theirs. Even if they aren't, who gives a fuck. They make me happy.
So yes, I'd date someone who was "broke".

sss I think in order for someone to make another person happy that they would have to be happy with themselves. So it doesn't make sense that someone who's happy would be broke and jobless constantly. that person is clearly dealing with negative situations because they have negative energy.

In essence, our replies to one another on this topic of dating do nothing more than support and further highlight our beliefs on the issue of money vs. happiness. It's pretty clear where each of us stand...and I respect your beliefs dvy
i'm just really selfish and desire nothing more than to continue to be happy. part of what keeps me happy is the ability to do almost whatever the fuck i want at 26 years old. money plays a big part in that. i may have new desires as i get older but right now enjoying myself and my life has been my only agenda. it's part of the reason why i don't want children. they ruin every fcking thing.
didn't mean to derail your thread btw. sddddddddd
you're not derailing it at all.....if anything you just created a subtopic
Happiness, everything else will follow IMO.
But money definitely plays a part in sustaining happiness. Lol

Money dictates FREEDOM imo... and freedom is the ultimate key to happiness for me. It also encourages me to go out and create new circles of friends with people of similar goals and ambitions. Having broke friends gets late after a while... We're pushing 25 guys..

True tho! Honestly they are both good things to possess. I'm learning that money doesn't have to be vilified or seen only as a form of materialism.

Exactly. Its absolutely not about materialism.. its about personal freedom. Can you "truly" be happy without that? Part of being "happy" would mean being able to go buy a concert ticket to finally see Brandy and not have to worry about my phone getting cut off the next day. :dead:
He already told you, in this example, even with the money you'd still be miserable. What's the point in living a miserable life? The only reason people want money in the first place is because they believe that with all those resources at their disposal it will give them more happiness / less worries.
I always said money before everything all my life. Now that I have it I have to say I would trade it for love.
Wait WHO am i kidding? I would never trade away te material hahaha but i Want love :(
money. it just makes life easier
