Let's chat and switch it up a bit.
What're u impressed by and what has grown on you, if anything?
:ohwow:
The opening keys and drama for "Saving all my love" slays me every time. It feels cinematic
Elements of that opening remind me of this opening to the Shock Value album
https://youtu.be/uebzAyuo2bU
I love Unconditionals Oceans all the way up to No Tomorrow
+ I love the spacey vibe of Oceans
+ I love everything about Rather Be, the beat, the tone, the beat switch and the yeah, yeahs at the end
+ Lucid is so abstract and trippy and I love it
+ Border I love the funeral sound and emoting in her voice
+ No Tomorrow grew on me so much b/c I looped that IG clip a lot and expected a different song but it's such a feel good now
I really love "Lucid Dreams". It's probably her most honest, saddest song for me since Should I Go .. just as beautiful and heart wrenching. When that beat kicks in ..ghhjjjddddii
Also "Say Something" really resonates with me for some reason. It sounds like something Alicia Keys would've wrote and produced for her. And the lyrics are very bold and clever.
Dndnnffjffngngjgj
I like that run she does "Fear is my religion NEVER down" that way she sings "down" gives me Human vibes. - Unconditional Oceans
I love how many different tones she used on the album.
I love how it's like listening to a book.
I love how Queen came back after 8 eight years and abandoned the commercial mess and created her own lane.
The bridge of Unconditional slays the fuck out of me. I never make it through without replaying it.
SAML is a VIBE and has really grown on me a lot since the release.
Lucid gives me Aretha down and I love the weird outro vocals .
Say Something is growing on me more too and reminds me a bit of Stevie.
I love how it sounds like nothing else out there right now.
Tracks 1-10, back to back :flamebroiled:
I like the album overall.
I like that she did it her way.
I like that they didn't use the normal song structure.
I like that she isn't belting a lot.
I like how comfortable she seems in who she is as an artist and what she brings that nobody else does.
I like the fact that she didn't let the fact that a certain big name singer was releasing something on the same day scare her into changing her release date.
I like the honesty and sincerity of the topics she is singing about.
I like that it's a solid body of work.
I like that the sequence of the songs actually make sense.
I love that she was herself through the whole damn thing. 100% BRAN
I honestly like most of it
I only dislike Saving All My Love, High Heels and I Am More. I can tolerate I Am More & High Heels now though. Everything else is at least OK.
I Love Rather and Borderline. Unconditional Oceans is WEIRD but I use that as well.
I just got into Lucid randomly... it's been LASHING my back recently
I like the cohesiveness the most. The smooth transitions from track to track.
Luicid has had it's claws in me since the first listen and it hasn't let up
Oddly enough it was Borderline that had to somewhat grow on me. I think it was the hype about it being "the one" before the album came out. I just didn't see it. Once I let all that go, it has become one of my favs. I can't stop playing and singing it. I think I described the interludes as feeling like interruptions when I first listened. My mind has changed on that. The first half of this album is superb to me.
I love Rather Be.
I like Lucid Dreams.
Those songs are where the unusual structures worked for me.
3:39 in Borderline.
That final minute breakdown chorus in No Tomorrow is really nice.
The piano in Unconditional Oceans helps it pop a bit.
:-D
Honestly
Everything :plzstop:
It's the only album I KEEP going back to repeatedly
And there's a lot of music out rn :plzstop:
It's a completely story
It's its own world— Brandy's world
The vocals
Everything tbh
But Tracks 1-10 is an experience for me :stressed:
Oceans, Rather Be, & Lucid Dreams are my trinity for this album
I actually like High Heels :dead:

Ack! Mine too!!!
Love the message and vocal in High Heels
and the production
I like this thread focus on what you like !!
I like that she did the album she wanted to do. She needed to get this off her chest to make an even better album next time !
She reminded me why she's my favorite voice in the industry.
Lucid >>>>
its so moody but kind of a bop
and the stuff she does vocally... who does that?
Bye Bipolar
shes singing her HEART OUT
:stressed:
Oceans, Rather Be & Lucid reminds me why I fuck w/ Brandy so much... I don't even know how to explain it

!!! Everything I love about her. These are the exact types of sounds I wanted to hear her over.
Lmfao at funeral sound
I like that its out
Still love baby mama
My reworked no tomorrow
And my reworked oceans
Rather be and borderline
And campers original saml
And high heels was added to a different brandy playlist its in there with list lately honey and max risk although i would just prefer an acapella of that 1
I added freedom rings and all i need from star
They fit perfectly to me
When playing i skip the interludes
Oherwise glad its out and it can heal the ppul it needs to
At this time i resonate more with human
(That changes every 3 or so months)
There's some dope harmonies at the end of Saving,
love that song
In the end, I'm the only one gon' get torn apart
A target, goddamn
Guilt dealt me tragedy inside-ate me alive
Bran blew it out of the water, lyrically, I haven't had to sit with her lyrics in this way since Afro and some of her unreleased work. I want to fight people for her. AND her phrasing.
There's something almost transgressive about this album. Coming off of a season where she hasn't always been well-supported it would've been easier (?) to take the traditional contemporary R&B route, but she veered to the left once again.
Really in awe of her.

I really REALLY love the first 8 songs in full and don't skip a single one. That feels good
Love Again and Baby mama are good and i love the final vocal on Bye BiPolar
I really appreciate how unpredictable it is in structure and melody. Because there is a melody in the songs (I have come to learn that since it's release and having sat with the album) just not in the conventional way that our ears have been trained to listen to as casual consumers of music. This isn't an easy listening record :plzstop:
I also just appreciate her telling her story in an authentic way. She's really doing some shadow work on this album and it's inspiring. This isn't news, but Brandy has always been forward thinking and super creative when it comes to executing her songs. It's just taking some adjusting this go round for me as a fan to appreciate what's she's doing.
Right now, "Unconditional Oceans", "Rather Be", "Lucid Dreams", "Borderline", "No Tomorrow" and "Saving All My Love" are my favorites.
I love how sonically it still finds a way to push the edge even in 2020
Borderline>>>>
Oceans>>>>>
Rather Be>>>>>
And I love how raw, brave, and candid it is. It reads more of like a personal diary.
