I dunno if it's the reverb or the way they produced her vocals for this performance but something about it makes her sound drunk/slurry :dead: Borderline just really doesn't seem to translate well "live." I mean, I know the song and I was having trouble following where it was going :dead: Say Something should be a single. It sounded good in the band setting.

I thought Bran looked and sounded great, SS sounds good "live". I just don't understand the lipping in EVERY televised performance. She's not touring nor doing spot dates due to COVID, so the "saving her voice" thing doesn't apply here :dead:
But it's not lipped though. There's a lot of reverb. She loves reverb, since it gives a studio effect while on stage, even though it's not necessary. I do agree that's it's overproduced though. If it were my first time hearing these songs I wouldn't even know what part to focus in on since there are so many harmonies and sounds coming from "nowhere." But B is definitely singing live throughout this whole performance.

I couldn't focus because her movements were so fast, she didn't take time with that mic. Too overproduced indeed..and the lipsync was too obvious maybe because she was more focused on giving us a show.

its like those old karate movies w/dubbed over English voices, very distracting and just awkward
especially if you're not doing anything extra physically to stop you from giving a good vocal

I completely agree, the Brandy we get in some of those pre-records is everythinggggggg and a lot of times she will not deliver that live. Plus she has more breath support so the agility is crazy and the ad libs come in quicker, etc. I love those Talk About Our Love pre-records.

Some writers do amazing work - but need time, to gather themselves and come forth.

It doesn't mean they aren't great because they can't perform LIVE in the moment, all the time.

It always seems when she performs at these BET events that what's on tv seems more produced than what they post online.
Watching the live broadcast, some of her vocals were hard to hear over the band. But watching it online, it seemed more balanced.
The lipping used to bother me, but now I don't care anymore. I'm just glad she's not using the same tone she used during the AFRO pre-records. I just want the albums. Anything else is extra. She just always has seemed scared of her own potential, and that's probably never going to change.

I BELIEVE this performance used pre recorded tracks but she still slayed and snatched edges.
