I saw Brandy live several times, but my favorite performance of hers was at a local Black Arts festival. She didn't lip at ALL and she kiiiiiilllllllleeeeeedddddd. Even when I saw her at some smaller venues she sang live... either that or, she had a stellar prerecord. She did lip most of her set at this Jazz festival I attended though. The crowd didn't notice.

She performed at a jazz show here in Detroit a year or two ago, and did her whole set live. This was not long after she had a couple off public moments... I was surprised,  and she killed! And showed me that she can do all those songs and the big notes live if she wanted to. Her vocals weren't perfect but her voice is so dynamic and angelic! I think that gets lost with the pre-records.

Idk what happened with post-production of this soul train performance but what they did to her vocals took away the dynamics of her voice...

This performance FOR ME was disappointing. Not because it's a shit performance but because my expectations of here were high and I know what she's capable of. We've seen her murder stages.
RU serious pooh??? You gotta rewatch, her voice sores on this performance

The vocals were flat in terms of sound to me. It's weird Like they were so turned up and "produced" that I couldn't appreciate or really FEEL any of her vocals. The second time I watched it I turned it off before borderline finished, watched it a third time, and watched that 15min vocal analysis someone posted in another thread. I just didn't feel anything... other than "damn this would've been amazing if I could hear her sing"
OMG Drewbaby being critical, usually he stans lol. I'll have to give you some time to sleep on it and be drawn in again when the viddiya randomly pops up on your YouTube feed.
:stressed:

Lolz Ima watch it AGAIN because I do stan but yeah like someone said, it felt a little empty.

And yeah Say Something was a little better.

This THUD is tearing me up vonc

It always seems when she performs at these BET events that what's on tv seems more produced than what they post online.

Watching the live broadcast, some of her vocals were hard to hear over the band. But watching it online, it seemed more balanced.

The lipping used to bother me, but now I don't care anymore. I'm just glad she's not using the same tone she used during the AFRO pre-records. I just want the albums. Anything else is extra. She just always has seemed scared of her own potential, and that's probably never going to change.

Le Champ

I'm honestly SHOCKED that there is any DOUBT about her lipping
its THAT obvious :dead:

and you can clearly tell every time she's singing live. Her voice has a COMPLETELY different quality

The Jazmine performance or whatever was amazing. From the band and background singers. Her look and of course, the voice.
They way they used the band to edit  "Trying to find a fck to give..." was dope.

GYNandTONIC

Personally I don't care if Bran lips or not. However, I've seen ppl swear she's lipping when she isn't, and vice versa.

Several producers have stated that Brandy's voice is a computer. Her mic usually has an echo and/or reverb. Those two things combined can have queen sounding studio at times.

Producers have also stated that she can match notes precisely, so much so that it cancels out. There are times when Brandy is singing with a back track but it sounds like only the back track because she's so spot on. Trying to minimize her abilities by comparing her to Fantasia, Monica, Usher, and Jazmine is foolish. Most of those people know how beastly she is, and Fantasia even said she is reserved about sharing a stage with her.

If Brandy was an average singer who lip sung every performance, I promise you the industry would not support her being called a Vocal Bible. With the amount of jealousy amongst female singers, I find it hard to believe that no one would call her out on it.

With all that said SS was lipped and Border was not. The mic was on the entire time
