All she said was that if a black girl sang "Hello", it would not be a smash hit and it really wouldn't. It's no bitterness in her saying that, it's just the truth.

Katy can bring "Dark Horse" to Urban radio, whereas a lot of our black artist have to fight to have our records played on mainstream radio or we are pigeon holed into singing one type of music and then we all complain about our artist not taking risks. The labels won't all some of them to do so.
exactly
how is it ok to just say oh our singers are an acquired taste yet
We can listen to THEIR singers?
Adele is top 10 on Urban AC radio, but Jaz can't get on AC overall?

The point of what she said (completely miss quoted in that post) is that she takes her time make an album and didnt want the focus to initially be on just one song but digest the full thing.
She (unlike many artist) love the stuff they've made in the past. Kinda the reason she JUST performed "Bootylicious" at MIA.  Doubt if someone "cringed" they would perform it still years later.

She has hits and failures in all forms and genres. The word "r3@l mus1q" has never came out of those pretty little lips. She knows that's bullshit and subjective. Why she doesnt mind getting a lil craze on stage dancing to "Fuck up some Commas" n "Truffle Butt'"  :udontlookok:
so yea, she shaded Rih

not denying that she did..Because she certainly did

And "Hello" is not far from something Jazmine Sullivan would do.  If Adele sang "In Love With Another Man", that shit would've smashed  :plzstop:

Oh Ray bitch... I never said all black people sing the same but let's be fucking honest here, MOST black singers love to prolong songs. They love runs, vibrato. Shit black people love to give dramatics and I live for it tbqfh but "Hello" isn't meant for a black female singer. And IF a black female singer sang the song it would've perched on Urban AC because many can't identify with that type of singing.

and Xtina would sound abysmal singing "Hello"

I don't recall saying only white people can sing that song :kii: All I said is that I GET why Adele was successful with that song and it has little to do with her race.

It sure would because Adele has a different vocal style and she enunciates. Why are y'all playing dumb? Seriously stop. I LIVE for Jazmine's voice but her vocal style is an acquired taste. She doesn't belong on AC or any format outside of Urban and Urban AC tbqfh.

I see what you're saying. It almost sounds like a song pulled from a musical. Music that stays away from all the vocal acrobats and keeps it straight tone for the most part.

First of all, I'm not playing anything. I'm speaking the damn truth. I don't care if Jaz's voice is an acquired taste, why she should have to be pigeon hold into one genre. That's the whole point. It's always a REASON as to why black artist can succeed beyond their core audience. "Not mainstream! Voice isn't for everyone!" It's always something
