I was always one who agreed with the whole, "no! oh! Its just proper English, dummy!" And I never paid it any more attention past that, but I saw this Black guy today, and his ACCENT was White. His twang. He was definitely talking White. It was his English coupled with that White "way" of speech.

You can speak proper English all day and still sound Black.

9/10, if you heard an adult Black male with great English on the phone without knowing his race, his voice still has that depth, that soul, that seasoning, that something that let's you know he's a brother.

So yeah, I disagree now, when people say there's no such thing as talking White.

And talking proper, to me does not equal talking white. You can sound black, like Farrakhan, but still sound very educated and proper. Or Chimamanda sounds highly educated, but not white at all.

Of course a person can sound black. I wrote an entire term paper on it.

You can sound white, black, Asian. Many African Americans do pronounce words differently. There is a sociolect for any demographic group.
