Quote from: from Asia to Russia on July 01, 2024, 01:44:30 PM"black excellence" would include amazing talent

And clearly there was no shortage of that on stage last night

people need to start expanding their ideas and interpretations of what "black excellence" is

I love when you have this take

Call it tf out !
a lot of people are getting turned off by "black excellence"

And it's not cuz black excellence isn't a thing and isn't amazing

It's because some people use that phrase with a certain underlying condescension that even people who fit their idea of "black excellence" find unnecessary and annoying

Ummmm Victoria ATE!!! I have no critiques. Like others have said, I'm usually not 100% blown away by her and always slightly left wanting more. But ever since the Alright video and now this performance, I've been completely blown away.

I think my issue has been that her music doesn't match her talent (dancing). I LOVE her music... but I'm like, why is she dancing so damn hard to a mid bop that doesn't ask for this (On My Mama)? "Alright" matches and showcases her abilities PERFECTLY. She needs to continue making uptempo/dance music if she wants to DANCE

I'm watching the show now and honestly, this is probably the best BET Awards since the 2000s. Every performance has been enjoyable and the star power is there. The girls are RUNNING this stage

But Taraji is a terrible host. This needs to be her last year. Honestly, they should let Childish Gambino host. Dddnddndsdsddddddxd he was a ki.

I'm kinda mixed on the Usher tribute.Too sexual for a lifetime achievement honor. All of the performances were good.Oddly, Tinashe was my favorite.Keke, when singing, reminds me of someone reading who just pronounces the words.Never any feeling or conviction but she killed the routine.
Loved Chloe and Victoria/Teyana.

Yeaaaaa. Normally I would agree with this but Victoria has been showing the fuck OUT lately. She's really growing into her stage presence now. Before, I just didn't feel she had "it factor" but I feel like she has officially grown into it now.

Alright >>>
