I can comfortably say that Malcolm X knew what he was doing as well. Am I calling him an opportunist? Does clear intent automatically equate to that? According to you, it appears that it does. But then again, I never SPECIFIED what I meant when I stated that "she knew she was doing". You interpreted it in a way that supports YOUR argument.

So to "tackle" a social issue and use the biggest platform on TV to do it at the start of a new era spells marketing/opportunist to most, not organic, genuine, or out of necessity/passion.

It would have been more daring for Beyonce's brand for the song to actually say the same thing lyrically and attack ears the same way those berets attacked White America's eyes. It would have been more daring to properly deliver these not so apparent boasts of Black Pride and awareness by including lyrics about them.

You're basically expressing your ideas of what have been "more" daring. Giving a laundry list of shoulda coulda woulda's that could have spiced it up a bit. But the bottom line is that the message was still clear. She had Mayor Guliani practically calling her a racist, FOX News down her throat.
