She is a woman who believes that her husband is well....hers.
So I can't agree all women "back in the day" developed or encouraged this type of thinking.
If anything I'd agree that the old school mentality is that the man goes out and takes care of his FAMILY financially, while the woman tends to the kids and house.
Same with my grandmother. Once she got to the states she didn't want my grandfather no more

" mess is something new and edgy. It's more of a woman's way of going against social norms which promoted marriage and monogamy, and a white picket fence.
I believe more and more women, especially black women, may be doing this out of at least a small amount of desperation to keep something in tact. Since it's such a rarity that black men are willing to commit and better yet, hold down a household with kids.
If they have that, chances are they may be willing to put up with more to keep it.
