Which borough are you in?

I did Manhattan for a few.  I don't like it in general, living wise.
Then Long Island City.

I considered North Bergen, NJ.
Or Hoboken.

The problem is, other places want to charge $1800+ for some roach infested, paint peeling mess. No, ma'am.

You feel forced to pay more just to get something CLEAN, renovated or new.
You should try Downtown Brooklyn.

It's energetic and safe ....convenient
Nice mixture of people. Rent is reasonable.
it's perfect for young professionals tbh.

If it were closer to where I work I'd probably be perched there again.

Been there.

people keep trying to talk me into moving to NYC but shit those prices.

ch
tears.

Right. Ask them if they'll help you to pay your rent mess owt.

Who's trying to talk you into it? Do they actually live up here - and do they have roommates, etc.

My teachers mainly.

I'm an actor.
This one teacher told me to go soon and I was like "I don't wanna be homeless!"

he was like you won't be.  :plzstop:

Manhattan is an arm and leg for some noise and a shitty landlord. You need to look into Brooklyn.

Thanks to gentrification, it's way more safer than it was back in the day.

But Brooklyn, where I'm originally from, has gotten out of control. Price wise.
It's actually worse there.

Harlem is acting out too, price wise.

And the Bronx is next...

I want to buy in the Bronx before prices go up.
Cause unless you have rent stabilization, you're screwed.

And I don't care how much income anyone makes, it's too much for rent.

Yeah, that's the downside to white people moving in...they drive the property value up and the rent increases.

I wouldn't recommend anyone living in the Bronx tbh

:hmph:

ya rock muh world.

I think that apartment is a bit more on the higher end though in price.

I haven't been there or researched it in a min but I remember the average for a studio being somewhere around 1400-1800.

The area slays. its fucking perfect.

Where are the good places to live and not get shot or robbed?
Camden, NJ

QuoteCamden has a national reputation for its violent crime rates, which consistently rank among the highest in the country, and in the developed world. Real estate analytics company NeighborhoodScout has named it within the top 5 "most dangerous" cities in the United States every year since it has compiled the list. Several times it has been ranked 1st on the list, most recently in 2015. In 2012, Camden set a new record by tallying 69 homicides[307], making for one of the highest murder rates ever recorded in an American city. In addition, since the FBI began uniformly reporting crime data in the mid 1980s, Camden has never seen its yearly violent crime rate drop below 2 per 100 residents. In comparison, the national rate is about 0.37 per 100 residents.[308] So, the lowest violent crime rate that Camden has ever had was still nearly six times the national average.

I think I'm trying to have my cake and eat it too, though.
I want a NEW, CLEAN, apartment that's like $1200-$1500, that's also rent stabilized.
:dead:

If it's not rent stabilized, landlords can increase your rent by $100+ a year.

That sucks

It really does.

And NYC gets away with it because all these damn new grads are crammed into one apartment with 3-4 people paying $3800 for a 2 bedroom.
