This is a hard one.It's sad they both peaked after only 2-3 years so I wouldn't say either ruled the decade.But Ashanti...She had hits and hits singing hooks and successful books of poetry, movies and I think she even had a fragrance line.Ciara is the most memorable though.

Ashanti came out at the peak of R&B/Hip Hop in the mainstream world. Had Ciara came out in 2001 she would have SHAT for dear life. I don't think it's fair to compare the two.

But at the end of the day, Ciara is bigger than Ashanti.

There was really no one out in 2002. Bran dropped Full Moon and pumped,  Monica wasn't out,  Beyonce wasn't,  Mariah was psycho and flopping, Mary wasn't out, etc. Shans literally came at the perfect time. That's why she wasn't able to sustain when 2003-2005 rolled around and all the gorls started coming back. Plus you had the new girls like Ci, Rih, Keyshia etc. She got lost in the shuffle and no one card anymore
