It can depend on the family, though. Some families are quick to distance themselves from relatives who they don't feel align with the "image" of their family.

Thankfully I never had to throw or attend any of these welcome home from the slammer BBQ's but I can see why families are happy to see their loved ones again.

Depends on the crime as well - some crimes are so horrific and disturbing that families feel they have no choice but to part ways.

They breakout from jail, get a good lawyer to get them off, suicide etc
and the point of jail isn?t just punishment, it?s supposed to be a catalyst for change
