I don't like him saying "we black out here we can't come out and do it anyway we want too"

Because we are black we have to do it a certain way??

Steve Harvey you a fuck nigga

we do!!

We do, they dont. They've already made it. The mission (or so I thought) is to help others like you make it or at least have an easier time getting a seat at the the table.

If we all were like Steve we'd still be in shackles. Playing their game has never been about liberation. Only the folks who were "radical" trailblazed.

We might have to in order to "break through" but we shouldn't HAVE to and that's what Mo is fighting against. Come on somebody :ummwhat:

We shouldn?t ?have? to but that?s the world we live in. A White mans world. And for her to fight against it she needs to be willing to endure opposition from the White man and those who assimilate, in terms of business opportunities which she calls blackballing and devaluing. You can?t smack the man then wonder why he isn?t giving you a coin. Pick one.

Playing their game can be about liberation but youd have to do progressive things with your resources once you?ve won the game. This is where we drop the ball.

Even though they?ve made it, they still have to ?act right.? I mean look at what Monique is saying herself. She didn?t act right and she?s allegedly blacklisted.

well, fighting against it can look like many things. You can't dictate how her battle against the power should go. She's expressed that her defense is all geared toward making it easier for upcoming black artists to get compensated equally. I think that's a noble enough cause to stand behind her, but ppl are willing to villify her for a couple comments alone. That seems like a cop out.

She has not done aggressively outlandish things, and yet a certain part of the public is lashing out at her as if she did. She gets this reaction because she's a black woman and it's sad because it's mostly black ppl telling her to "sit back."

He literally said ?when you tell the truth you have to deal with the repercussions of telling the truth?

clearly he agrees with her, just not her approach

There's no surefire way to end racism or self-help book based on stopping oppression, so I can't take your judgement of how she's going about it seriously

!!!!!

We damn sure would be at the back of the buses and no access to any thing if Rosa and Martin just played the game out that was already played out for us.

Civil rights and money politics aren?t really comparable like that

I get that but my issue is this, when do we stop "acting right" for them? Mo' has literally spelled out why she is advocating for herself and others like her. Black folks and Black women in particular make substantially less than their white counterparts. Why is she being attacked for that? Cause ppl dont like her?

Her powerful FRIENDS basically said she was right but they didnt go to bat for her and some even through her under the bus. They didnt apologize and basically let the same white ppl they claim to fight against "in different ways" blackball their colleague and fellow Black person
Is that not bogus to ppl?

If we dont allow our powerful to stand up for us then who can? It just reminds me of how ppl were telling Colin to protest in a different way or some shit. So whats the right way?

You gotta stand up for something and not just take what they give you for survival (especially if you dont need to survive cause ur rich) The parallels are all there.
