I kinda get what he's saying tbh. Beyonce's  saving grace is her ability to perform which is why all the fags and black girls grovel at her feet but her legacy is missing sumn imo, really ICONIC music for one.   She stepped her artistry game up a bit but that lacks too TBH! That's why some people even consider solange a better artist. She seems genuinely connected and invested with what she's putting out.  I can't say i feel that from beyonce There's this........EMPTINESS or disconnect i feel from her.  She doesnt make GREAT music and that's why she hasn't received a AOTY trophy. I do still think that it's a matter of preference but i get why someone wouldfeel that beyonce doesn't measure up to the likes of Michael, Prince, Aretha, etc

my two cents

Beyoncé's impact on music pales in comparison to most of her great contemporaries (Gaga, Janet, Spears, Mariah, etc). And although she's had moderate success with music, her impact is mostly cultural and forced.

She has long been the favorite of liberal, left white media and easily tokenized to fill the niche that's necessary in this moment in history. Her gift remains one of black entertainer fitting that mold, and doesn't necessarily say much about her stardom or musical abilities.
